Due to the mild and short winter period, we saw the first pond turtles basking in the sun in April. However, in May - as part of the monitoring of the environmental effects of the activities carried out in the project - we noticed the presence of several (at least 5) female turtles living in a pond located near one of the largest breeding sites in Masuria. The protective measures used in the project should enable females to lay eggs calmly and protect the eggs and young turtles from predators (e.g. foxes) and other threats.
